Meet Emma International fitness presenter

Founder of Pilates Union and creator of the BarreConcept Method, Emma Newham, has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years, teaching mind body holistic exercise including Pilates, yoga, BarreConcept and GyrotonicŪ. She is author to 8 exercise training manuals and has produced her own range of fitness DVDs.

Emma has a wealth of media experience, having written for national newspapers and fitness magazines as well as hosting her live fitness shows on UK radio.As co-presenter on QVC channel, Emma has taught Pilates on live TV.

Emma's online courses have international accreditation under the name of her company, Pilates Union UK, with various fitness organisations across the globe.

Emma presents internationally in many different countries, helping to spread the popularity of the mind body exercise experience. She has been a fitness consultant to professional sportsmen and companies including the ECB (English Cricket Board), Sunderland Football Club, Birmingham Royal Ballet, London Business School and Durham County Cricket Club. She runs her successful MyBody Studios in the North East.

Rehabilitation schemes are one of Emma's specialities, having set up the first back care exercise scheme for the spinal surgery patients at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London. Emma also helped to update and implement a safe exercise circuit for Barnet NHS in London for their Cardiac Rehabilitation Classes.

Yoga was always a keen interest for Emma and is still one of her favoured methods of movement. She travelled to the Himalayas in India to undertake her yoga teacher training at the Sivananda ashram. Since then she has travelled to Mysore, Southern India, to train with the international guru, Patabi Jois, specialising in Ashtanga yoga. More famous, modern yogis whom Emma has had the pleasure of training with have included the renowned anatomist, Paul Grilley and Ashtanga yogi, John Scott and David Swenson.

Emma is one of the few GyrotonicŪ and GyrokinesisŪ teachers in the U.K - a method that has been described as 21st century yoga on a machine.

As well as being a fully qualified Personal Trainer with London Central YMCA, she is one of a few hundred Cardiac Rehabilitation teachers in England having qualified to Phase 4 instructor with the British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation. Emma is also a qualified assessor.

Her list of accredited courses continues to grow as Emma continues to write and develop more training.
